From theatre to stand-up comedy, music to dance, cabaret to circus acts, the annual month-long event – which takes place all over the Scottish capital – has become a destination for aspiring performers and arts enthusiasts. This year, that includes Singapore for a very special reason.
2025 is the year Singapore Spotlight will make its debut at Edinburgh Festival Fringe, arguably the largest arts and culture festival in the world. After years of several Singaporean acts performing there individually, this will be the first time at Edinburgh that a Singapore-centric festival programme will take place. This did not come easy.
The initiative was started by Singaporeans in their 20s to 40s based both here and in Britain: Shien Hian Lim, Shaifulbahri Mohamad, Caleb Lee, Brent Tan, Joanne Tay and Syania Shaharuddin.
